Expanding in all directions this week. Two tufting frames set up in the studio at one time. With the smaller of the two frames holding my first rectangular composition. On the property, we're protecting what we're building with practical (if not beautiful) fencing to keep the boars out.

two frames, expanding my options

Two tufting frames set up simultaneously in full artistic flow for the first time. This new rhythm is expanding my options. I can work on my first rectangular composition while keeping my larger organic shaped works in rotation. A space for high and low energy, options for every creative pull I feel.

prepping for my 100% upcycled goal

Prepping textiles for my 100% upcycled piece, my next big work goal. These have been washed, dyed, and are drying before I strip and wind them into usable form. The process takes the time it takes, especially here off grid. Slow systems building naturally, getting me one day closer to my goal. Also can we talk about how cute the off grid studio is?!? A little gem in the middle of the rainforest.

The beginning stages of Trust, she’s taking shape. It’s my first time working with a rectangular composition instead of an organic one. New territory, new possibilities. It’s been creatively abundant, like opening pandoras box of possibilities.

vintage tool from the 1970s

Tufting by hand with a vintage tool from the 1970s. Every single loop is manual. No electricity, just intention, repetition and strong arms! I love how challenging this medium is. It requires rhythm, patience, and love. Slowly but surely tufting becomes addicting, the sounds enchanting, the payoff is so rewarding and the love only deepens.

Calm. 'Calm' is part of my collection Both, At Once. Its companion pieces 'Bold' and 'Elevate' are both showing in Storied Ground at the Kahilu Gallery.

Sweet Pea's favorite holiday is Valentine's Day, which means we've been baking nonstop. Balancing it out with meals blooming with greens, herbs, and spice. Health in the midst of indulgence.

made from last week's quilt

I made a yoga mat cover from last week's quilt. Leaning into the practices that fuel my mental health feels especially important when everything else is shifting and expanding. The more I pour into my cup in nourishing ways the more abundant my creative well feels. Practically this looks like choosing crafts that feel like treats over ones that feel like trends.

Before - Short story: We put up fencing. It's practical, not beautiful, but it does the job of protecting the garden beds we're building. Long story: The boars ripped up my beloved garden right before guests came. It was so fast, unexpected and heartbreaking. As much as the fence is not my favorite visually, the job it does is necessary. So time to embrace the change, sprinkle some Coco magic on the situation and make it beautiful.

After - Protected garden space with plants lining the bottom. The powerful part of this After isn’t the glow up (although I have to say, these plants made all the difference in the world to me) but what it represents. This fence means I will have protected plants! I celebrated with lilikoi starts that I’m growing from seed that will eventually climb up the fence.

Sweet Pea LOVES Valentines day or as she calls it Heart to Heart Day, its her favorite holiday, winning over Christmas, Halloween, even her Birthday! We celebrate all month long. This week she painted valentines for her whole class. Watching her spread love to 20+ classmates was her favorite project, hands down. We’re sending you all the love in the world, and will have more valentines day fun to share next week.
